Companies selling weight loss coffee focus on a few means by which their coffee is supposed to help you lose weight. First off, they claim their coffee will help curb your appetite. This is obviously helpful since the less you eat, the fewer calories your body needs to burn, and thus the more weight you lose. The other side of the conference here is that just drinking the coffee itself can add calories, and associated activities can be unhealthy as well. If you add cream and sugar to your coffee, those are both high calorie foods. Also, drinking coffee is often a public action accompanied by food. If you go out for a coffee, it is very likely that you'll get a snack or meal to go with it, which is calories you might not have otherwise eaten.
The next claim of the associates selling coffee that is supposedly genetically engineered to promote weight loss is that it significantly increases power levels and as a result, metabolism levels as well. This is obviously true to some degree since caffeine does give you an power boost. This can help you get through your daily workout and also replace other power sources such as sugar. The counterpoint to this conference says that while it is true you can get a temporary power boost, you can crash once it wears off if you don't keep drinking coffee and the sugar rush that is released by the caffeine can turn to fat if it isn't burned off in a workout.
